Located on 14.5 park-like acres, Kahi Mohala's 88-bed facility is Hawaii's only private, freestanding psychiatric hospital. Kahi Mohala provides comprehensive behavioral health services for adults, adolescents and children experiencing problems with psychiatric disorders, anxiety, depression, eating disorders. The buildings and grounds offer a complete residential environment with an emphasis on patient safety and security.
The Development Officer generates philanthropic income for Kahi Mohala Behavioral Health. The incumbent is assigned major areas of fund development, such as personal donations, planned giving, foundation grants, corporate solicitation, annual giving, special events, and special projects. A high degree of personal initiative is encouraged and expected. Accepts other duties as assigned.
A Bachelor's degree in health, communication or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience is required.
Two years professional experience in related field.
Must have a thorough knowledge of fund development, including sources of grants and funds. Knowledge of local community leaders/organizations, philanthropists and media representatives is strongly desired. Knowledge of the healthcare industry, in general, and Kahi Mohala Behavioral Health in particular is extremely helpful.
Must be able to work with physicians and hospital staff. Must possess strong motivational and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others. Must be able to work under multiple and frequent deadlines. Must have the highest level of personal ethics. Requires attention to detail as well as organization and prioritization skills. Must work well as a team member and leader, and have the ability to work independently with minimal direction or supervision. Computer skills are required. Public speaking skills are required. Must have effective project planning/management skills.
