Dir, Development I
JOB DESCRIPTION: Plans, directs and coordinates funding activities for a specific department in support of students, programs and facilities. Seeks major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations through donor correspondence, event/reception planning and personal visits. Maintains an active schedule of solicitation, cultivation and stewardship calls to donors and new prospects. Coordinates public relations, donor relations, budget management and the generation of publications and proposals. Provides ongoing feedback to employees concerning their performance. May direct and monitor alumni relations work, including responding to alumni needs and requests. May supervise clerical, professional and volunteer staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree and five years experience in higher education, development, fund raising or equivalent experience in a non-profit institution, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Effective written and oral presentation skills.

Additional Job Details The primary responsibility of the Director of Development for Clinical Programs is to develop and implement strategies for identifying, cultivating and successfully soliciting individuals, corporations and foundations for major gifts to support the School's educational, research and patient care programs. This position will be the primary fundraiser for the Emory School of Medicine departments as assigned.
This position reports to the Senior Associate Vice President for Development (School of Medicine) and is responsible for assisting department heads, center directors and other faculty to generate private gifts to support the programs to which he or she is assigned. This position must also be able to function as an integral part of a team, under the overall direction of the Vice President for Health Sciences Development, which designs and implements successful fundraising programs that include annual giving, planned giving and major gifts to maximize private gift support for the Woodruff Health Sciences Center.
Applicants should also possess a track record of success in designing, implementing, and administering programs related to fund raising, volunteer management, marketing or related fields.
