Direct - IT Operations Technician

We are looking for a dependable person to provide IT support for operations of the Cedar Rapids Contact and Fulfillment Centers.
Nordstrom Direct delivers the same great fashion and service known in our stores through two additional customer experiences - online at Nordstrom.com and in print through our catalogs. At our Cedar Rapids, Iowa facility, a broad range of positions support our efforts to provide an outstanding customer shopping experience by processing customer orders, returns and inbound merchandise. The ideal IT operations technician acts independently under general direction and is committed to providing outstanding customer service every day.
Responsibilities
- Support the IT operations and system needs of the Fulfillment and Contact Center
- Monitor IT operations jobs on the AS400, iSeries and HP platforms and provide general IT support for business operations across all IT shifts
- Fill in for other shift personnel as needed
- Fulfill specific IT operations tasks, such as WM wave management, packslip and label preparation and distribution
- Trouble shoot problems that arise with Fulfillment and Contact Center equipment such as: personal computers, printers, network and radio frequency equipment, telephones, servers and packaging systems
- Prototype new and existing system and operations processes and make recommendations for improvements
- Devise, modify and implement procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations of operating time windows
- Provide off hours support as part of rotating on-call support team
Qualifications
- 1-3 years experience in technical systems support and network/telephone troubleshooting required
- 2 year degree in related computer field required
- 1-3 years experience with various Windows operating systems and desktop administration tools required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Knowledge of project and task management processes
- Knowledge of database systems such as Microsoft Access and DB2/400
- Experience using query tools for reporting purposes
- Familiarity with software development and programming using tools such as COBOL, RPG, Java
