Direct Response Media Buyer
About the Job
Overall Objective:
To effectively coordinate direct response media buying efforts of any retail/DR accounts including research, planning, buying and evaluating performance of his/her accounts. DR Buyer must be a self-starter and be able to work independently while meeting all deadlines.
The DR Media Buyer/Planner is a highly visible position and a critical member of the media department team. This person report directly to the Media Director.
General Duties:
• Media Buying and Media Management assignments:
o Purchase Local and National DRTV media for Direct Response (DR) clients according to strategic guidelines and profitable results for all clients.
o Manage all DR/PI media buys for accounts to maximize overall profitability per station and per client against designated goals and budgets.
o Utilize aggressive buy management techniques to meet or exceed client goals
• Understanding the client’s marketplace (market conditions, driving patterns, etc)
• Constant communication – written and verbal-with account executives
• Maintaining media / station relationships
• Present to clients and internal management.
Required Skills
• 5 years long form and/or short form media buying experience related to DR buying for TV, cable, radio (print a plus).
• Self-motivated, a desire for challenge and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated program/project management skills
• Can work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Well-developed in planning/negotiating strategic media recommendations
• Excellent problem solving abilities.
• Skilled in prioritizing and adapting to new projects throughout the day with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work in an environment of fast-paced change while maintaining focus.
• Able to manage and follow-up.
