Duties and Responsibilities: The Direct Service Aide is the direct service provider who may be responsible for but not limited to the following essential duties:

• Implement individual training and support programs
  
• Maintain positive communications and relationships with supervisor, consumers, landlords, employers, involved member of families and community members
  
• Participate in the evaluation of the consumer through completion of task analysis and other requested assessment devises
  
• Provides logs, reports and consumer evaluations in a timely, complete and accurate manner as required
  
• Implement individual training and support programs for the consumer(s)
  
• Provides direct service as needed and required
   

Work Schedule: Part time, depending on the needs of the consumers. Hours and days may vary.

Skills & Education Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older with a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. Must possess certification in a Red Cross approved CPR and First Aid class, or successfully complete the training and certification within 45 days of hire.

Physical Requirements: Some of our consumers are physically impaired and require assistance into and out of wheelchairs and other assistive devices. The DSA must be able to perform such tasks on an urgent or emergency basis.

Other Requirements: The DSA must be capable of making on-site visits to consumers, agencies and employers. Often these visits are at a distance from the office and no regular means of public transportation exists. Community Catalysts of California does not furnish transportation or vehicles for its employees. A reliable means of transportation, valid California Driver's License and insurance is required. He/she must successfully pass a screening for illicit drug use prior to employment. He/she must possess a record clear from past felonious activity and submit to a Department of Justice criminal activity background check.
