This search is within a leading business group of the corporation, one known as the primary pump for producing key operations leaders seeded throughout the corporation. The Director of Operations Excellence is a grooming role, charged to drive continuous improvement to the next level, while preparing a staff of future leaders for career ascension. This role drives operational excellence initiatives for multiple plants in North America. Past Directors of Opex typically earn the next career challenge and elevation within 24-30 months.
Our client requires an MBA or other Masters in addition to a Business, Operations, or Engineering Bachelors degree. Consideration requires at least 12 years of experience within manufacturing and at least 5 years experience leading and developing professionals. The client requires prior leadership of a site level Continuous Improvement function and significant experience in manufacturing operations (production, quality, engineering, supply chain). However, since business processes are growing targets for improvement, prior experience in finance, sales, marketing, and other support functions is desirable. A passion for lean/TPS principles is required. Prior leadership of kaizen events is required. Candidates must demonstrate success and fluency with cellular concepts, standard work, 5S, setup reduction, kanbans, visual factory, plus display intensity for metrics. Successful mentoring and development of A- players is a primary measurement for success and advancement. This role leads teams consisting of high-level leaders which drive business process improvement. Persuasive communication skills are paramount for success.
