Reporting to the Department Administrator/CFO, the Director of Budget & Finance is responsible for managing the financial affairs of the Department of Pediatrics. Key responsibilities include developing budgets; evaluating management units’ financial performance; developing financial model to assess strategic initiatives; data collection, analysis, and preparation of financial reports; assisting Departmental Administrator/CFO and senior members of management team in developing and implementing long-range strategic plans; managing business functions of central administrative units, including purchasing, and accounts payable activities, bank reconciliation, University and hospital account reconciliations; serving as resource to program directors and administrators in developing business plans; managing service agreements with affiliate institutions; providing guidance to division administrators on financial matters; supervising finance staff; establishing training standards for staff with financial responsibilities and developing training programs appropriate to those needs. The Director also serves as the liaison to University business offices of both the Medical Center and at the Morningside campuses and NYPH finance offices; ensures compliance with University policies and procedures and maintains internal audit controls.
Master’s degree in finance, business administration, or related field with at least 7 years of related experience. CPA desirable. Must possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to manage a complex financial operation, supervisory experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, and sound analytical abilities. Experience in academic medical center is highly desirable.
