Position Description: ***Position can be based anywhere in the United States with proximity to a major airport. ***
The Director, Business Development will provide leadership as SunGard Higher Education’s key liaison to partners within the SunGard Higher Education Collaborative Program and for new partners to be added to that program.
• Responsible for the strategy, planning, negotiation, contract execution and management of instrumental relationships to the organization. • Will develop close alignment between SunGard Higher Education and our partners to optimize market potential for SunGard Higher Education’s offerings and to maximize the partner’s investment in SunGard Higher Education. • Will drive existing and establish new partnerships, leveraging SunGard Higher Education and Partner offerings to support revenue generation and market growth. • Also establishes new channel sales opportunities with partners, to enable where appropriate the partners’ ability to pull through SGHE products and services. • Will provide leadership as SunGard Higher Education’s key liaison to partners within the SunGard Higher Education Collaborative Program and for new partners to be added to that program. • Responsible for the strategy, planning, negotiation, contract execution and management of instrumental relationships to the organization. • Will develop close alignment between SunGard Higher Education and our partners to optimize market potential for SunGard Higher Education’s offerings and to maximize the partner’s investment in SunGard Higher Education. •Will drive existing and establish new partnerships, leveraging SunGard Higher Education and Partner offerings to support revenue generation and market growth. • Also establishes new channel sales opportunities with partners, to enable where appropriate the partners’ ability to pull through SGHE products and services. • Serves all business units across SunGard Higher Education facilitating cross-team collaboration with senior management, field and client operations, product management, legal, and finance to drive execution of strategic initiatives and evangelize the value of SunGard Higher Education and the SunGard Higher Education Collaborative Program with partners and customers. • Develop and drive key objectives and alignment between Partners and SunGard Higher Education. • Negotiate business terms to establish mutually beneficial partner agreements. • Develop go-to-market programs with partners around product/technology alignment and other synergies that will drive incremental revenue for SunGard Higher Education, in collaboration with Product Management. • Work with partners to help support SunGard Higher Education’s marketing and product messaging through SunGard Higher Education’s events (exhibiting/sponsorships), joint advertising and other joint marketing activities. • Drive partner investment, commitment and support of SunGard Higher Education offerings. • Manage partner relationship throughout the lifecycle of identification/discovery, enablement, support, go-to-market, and reference.
Position Requirements: Required Skills • Candidate must have a minimum of 7 years experience with successful and demonstrable track record in business development, product management and/or product marketing. • Excellent negotiation skills and experience developing and structuring agreements to support SunGard Higher Education and partner objectives • Results-oriented professional with strong work ethic. Demonstrated success working independently, working on many activities concurrently. • Urgency in driving closure and focus on customer satisfaction. • Four-year college degree required. • Outstanding interpersonal, written communication and strong/succinct oral communication skills essential. • Willingness to travel up to 50% Desired Skills • MBA or other related Master’s Degree preferred. • Minimum 2 - 5 years of enterprise software and services experience (most recent); with strong technical acumen and specific understanding of server software or infrastructure software preferred but not required; strong passion for software products and services and ability to understand technical concepts quickly.
