Director, Business & General Studies Colleges - Ingersoll Rand University

This Director will report directly to the Chief Learning Officer of Ingersoll Rand University and provide leadership for the development of learning solutions in the Business College and General Studies College for the enterprise. Overall, the Director, Business and General Studies Colleges will lead the design and development of strategic learning solutions for specific functional areas (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Lean Six Sigma and others as identified) as well as the General Studies College, which serves the entire salaried populations in professional skills topics. This highly visible and strategic role will consistently interact with key leaders across the enterprise and set the tone for strategic learning initiatives for Ingersoll Rand.

The successful candidate will serve as a key leadership team member for Ingersoll Rand University. The scope of this role is enterprise-wide with a $7M budget and four direct reports as well as accountability for key vendors and contractors in the learning space.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Lead the design and development of innovative learning solutions to develop strategic business competencies (for the discipline areas: Sales, Marketing, Lean Six Sigma, Supply Chain, and others as identified)

  • Lead the annual Enterprise Learning Planning Process - identifying and prioritizing strategic enterprise learning needs through consultation with business leaders

  • Lead the General Studies College, which serves the entire salaried population in professional skills topics

  • Provide innovative leadership as a key IRU leadership team member and drive organizational learning, both formally and informally, across the enterprise.

  • Employ cutting-edge instructional delivery methods and innovative blended learning initiatives.

  • Facilitate organizational learning and strategic initiatives

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have demonstrated 'world-class' skills and leadership in a global organization in learning and development. This individual will be accountable for aligning learning and development initiatives across the enterprise both in functional areas of excellence as well as general studies. Diagnosis and understanding of Ingersoll Rand's culture, leadership priorities and global influences is critical.

Other key qualifications include:
15 years + professional work experience
Minimum of 10 years people management experience
Significant enterprise-wide program management experience
Management of mid-to-large scale, global business processes within a matrixed organization
Applied understanding of adult learning and instructional design processes
Strong experience in various instructional technology methodologies
Masters Degree in Business, Adult Learning or related human resource development field
