Position Summary

The Director of Client Services will develop and implement plans to ensure long-term revenue growth and delivery of the highest quality programs and services in the assigned segment of the assessment market. The assigned segment(s) will include major, complex, and mission-critical programs of up to $25 million dollars in annual volume. The primary responsibilities are to monitor and guide all assigned client services activities and maintain direct contact with clients to meet client needs and enhance the company’s reputation. The Director will contribute to the development of cost-effective, flexible, innovative, and scalable designs for high-stakes programs. The Director also will interact frequently with staff from many other departments within the company to represent the clients’ needs and perspectives, as well as to provide information critical to developing timely and effective solutions. In addition, the Director will communicate the company’s direction to clients and influence future objectives and planning. Familiarity and exposure to the use of technology in large-scale assessment programs, and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities provided by its expanded use will factor significantly in this leadership role. Additional responsibilities include the following:

  • Work collaboratively to solve complex conceptual and implementation problems by negotiating strategies and planning for both short-and long-term goals with senior-level internal management staff and external clients.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to program managers and management teams across multiple contracts.
  • Ensure provision of high-quality products and services that meet clients’ needs and deadlines.
  • Be responsible for growth and stability of programs, focusing on optimizing resources, maximizing profitability, and increasing client satisfaction.
  • Facilitate and mediate communication between internal (different departments within the organization) and external clients to fulfill contractual obligations.
  • Assist clients in developing strategies and determining the most effective ways to meet their objectives.
  • Collaborate on detailed proposal-related initiatives, including executive summaries, intended win themes, potential resource requirements, risk analysis, and return-on-investment analysis.
  • Review and monitor estimates, quotes, project budgets, and proposals sent to clients to ensure budgetary requirements are met.
  • Plan, direct, and deliver informational presentations to high-level state personnel, senior management, and assessment experts.
  • Manage staffing of designated programs, provide guidance on career development for managers and other employees, contribute to the development and execution of employee/performance improvement plans as needed, and ensure timely delivery of performance appraisals.
  • Assist the Senior Vice President in identifying areas of need, including planning and forecasting the department’s annual budget, capital cost expenditures, and staffing needs.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Vice President in setting overall goals for Program Managers and for the department, and participate in setting goals within each team.
  • Mentor, supervise, and assist the Program Managers in resolving complex situations and advise the Senior Vice President of critical issues and recommendations.
  • Foster open and effective communication within the department, with other entities within the organization, and with external clients.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Minimum of ten years of professional experience in education, inclusive of:
    - A minimum of five years of experience in educational assessment
    - A minimum of five years of experience in public education, at the school, district, or state level
    - A minimum of three years of experience managing and leading employees
    - A minimum of three years of program management experience
  • Note: Experience must include an understanding of the benefits and challenges associated with the expanded use of technology in educational assessment programs
