Director, Environmental Health and Safety

We are currently seeking an experienced and action-oriented leader to join our staff as Director, Environmental Health and Safety.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and supervising all fire and safety procedures and policies in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Reporting to the Director of Safety and Security, you will ensure that buildings, property and equipment are being used and maintained in accordance with safety standards, and direct appropriate corrective measures. You will also identify needed modifications and seek administrative approval for major safety expenditures.

Other responsibilities include: assisting with investigations of fire and safety incidents; organizing and training emergency response teams; working with New York City fire and building departments as a representative of the facility; and scheduling, conducting and reviewing fire and emergency drills.

To qualify, you must have a bachelor’s degree, a New York City Fire Department certificate of fitness, and at least 3 years’ experience in management or a similar role. Qualified candidates will also have education and experience in industrial hygiene along with 3 or more years’ demonstrated experience in a healthcare environment.
