Director of Finance and Administration Job Description

Duties And Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) is the chief financial, and administrative officer of the Lewis School of Princeton.

 

The DFA directs and leads all financial and administrative matters with respect to the school and oversees the operation of the buildings and facilities housing all of the activities of the school.

 

S/he directs and supervises financial department that includes the bookeeper.

 

Drafts, produces, and presents the annual budget for review and approval by the CEO and Board of Trustees. Manages the budget; keeps the School running within budget parameters; and regularly reports on budget matters. Directs all financial planning and reporting for the institution. Partners with the CEO and other key staff to make financial decisions and set business polices and practices for the school as a whole.

 

Proposes and carries out plans for increasing earned revenue and maximizing new opportunities for expense containment and income expansion.

 

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required. Prior experience as a chief financial officer or chief operating accounting officer of a school with physical facilities is required.

 

Comprehensive knowledge of financial reporting and accounting required.

 

 A minimum of 10 years' experience in school management with increasing levels of responsibility.

 

Additional Qualifications

MBA preferred. Experience in a university and/or not-for profit environment a plus.

 

High degree of proficiency with Word, Excel and Quikbooks.

 

Strong communication, problem-solving, management and team building skills required.

 

Strong diplomatic skills, excellent judgment, and high level of professionalism.
