Summary
Responsibilities include both internal and external reporting for national transportation company with annual consolidated revenue in excess of $2.0 billion.
Manage month-end consolidations.
Prepare Forms 10Q, 10K and 8K for filing with SEC. Includes financial statement preparation, footnotes and management's discussion and analysis of financial condition and results of operations. Must have knowledge of SEC rules and regulations S-K and S-X and Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
Must apply technical accounting standards and stay apprised of all changes in reporting requirements including the internal control provisions of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and changes in generally accepted accounting principles.
Oversee the accounting for the Company's Insurance Subsidiary and prepare year-end financial statements with footnotes for distribution.
Consolidate two annual forecasts and an annual budget. Prepare annual budget presentation for Board of Directors.
Prepare the annual 401K financial statements and review the various Form 5500's to be filed with the U.S. Department of Labor.
Prepare financial tables for quarterly and annual financial press releases.
Prepare monthly management letter summarizing the results of operations for both the quarter-to-date period and year-to-date period for distribution to the Company's Board of Directors.
Oversee the preparation of a weekly flash of operating results for distribution to senior management.
Oversee preparation of various U.S. Government census reports.
Accumulate various statistics for use by senior management in presenting quarterly and annual results during the quarterly and annual earnings conference calls.
Must have strong math and analytical skills.
Directly supervises two employees in the Finance Department.

Extensive use of Excel and other third party software packages, i.e. PlanMaster

Organizational skills
Education and/or Experience
Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four to five years of accounting background in "Big 4" or equivalent, preferred.
C.P.A. license, preferred.
