National Grid, whose primary business is the ownership and operation of regulated electric and gas infrastructure networks in the UK and US serving 19 million customers, with US headquarters in Waltham Massachusetts, is seeking an Engineering Director within its US Gas Distribution business. The US Gas business includes gas distribution networks in Massachusetts, NYC, Long Island, upstate NY, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. This role is responsible for development of detailed engineering plans for gas distribution, and transmission capital improvement projects. With annual capital improvements approaching $1B, this is considered a senior leadership position reporting to the VP of Engineering. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership capability, strong engineering process orientation, as well as high personal integrity and credibility with both engineering teams and executive leadership. Requirements:
B.S. degree in engineering discipline required. Master degree desirable
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
10 years leadership experience, at the Manager or Director level preferred
Knowledge and experience in system operations, network analysis, construction, rates and economics
Familiarity with federal, state, and local gas codes and standards
Successful track record of identifying issues, concerns, and sharing of best practices from internal and external sources
Ability to build strong relationships with both internal, and external stakeholders
Proven ability to motivate performance and manage others
Bottom line oriented, budget conscious, metric/measurement driven
