Director, Global Marketing Japan/Asia Pacific

Responsiblities:

We are looking for a Director, Global Marketing for our Cheshire, CT office. The candidate will be responsible for supporting pre-launch and launch marketing activities of a novel orphan therapy in the global hematology and oncology space. The candidate will serve as the principal commercial liaison between Global Marketing and Japan and Asia Pacific commercial organizations, and the ideal candidate will be bi-lingual. This candidate will report to the Senior Director of Global Marketing. Key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as principal commercial liaison between Global Marketing and Japan and Asia Pacific (A/P) commercial organizations
  • Support market development activities (e.g. KOL development, conduct advisory boards, pricing and reimbursement, patient advocacy, forecasting, diagnostic strategy implementation etc) and launch planning for Soliris in Japan and A/P
  • Support development and implementation of Japan and A/P launch plans leveraging best practices from other regions
  • Provide commercial support in development of Japan and A/P subsidiaries
  • Support promotional material development for Japan and A/P launches
  • Ensure global alignment of marketing strategies, product positioning, messaging and branding
  • Provide marketing support for the development and implementation of global brand and life-cycle management strategies which maximize the value of the brand
  • Prepare and manage meetings with brand members of regional and country organizations in Asia Pacific and Japan
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with regional brand teams and other functional areas (i.e., MSLs, Clinical, Discovery, Regulatory, Legal, and Sales).
Requirements

Along with his/her management, plays a key role in developing strategies and tactics, with a focus on solid implementation of tactics through a combination of individual and team efforts. This person must possess a strong ability to manage multiple projects across functional areas, and work independently when appropriate, in teams and as a sub-team lead. The candidate must have 3-5 years pharmaceutical industry experience and a good in-depth knowledge of marketing principles and marketing experience within the pharmaceutical industry, specifically within the Japan / Asia Pacific region. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge in key principles of brand management and marketing, professional promotion and the sales process. The candidate should have experience in managing external brand agencies and vendors on a day-to-day basis and managing promotional budgets. Prior experience in a global marketing function is preferred. Experience: For consideration, we require that the successful candidate has 5-7 years of pharmaceuticals marketing or equivalent in strategic marketing activities. Experience launching or working with a newly launched product is highly desirable. Experience in Marketing of orphan drugs preferred. Other Requirements:
  • Bilingual (English / Japanese)
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Experience in working on global, multi-functional teams
  • Strong organization, planning and prioritization skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
