Job Description
  • The head of Logistics Systems is responsible for providing overall oversight and active management of the IT Logistics Systems. 
  • The role is accountable for ensuring overall project delivery, schedule and budget attainment, and effective management of business user expectations in achieving overall desired outcomes, results and deliverables including overseeing all enterprise-wide and global project initiatives. 
  • Global scope of the role involves overall end-to-end project lifecycle oversight and management that includes the phases involving discovery, requirements gathering in partnership with Business function teams, project planning, design, build, testing, deployment and effective transition of solutions during appropriate warranty periods to Production Support in Application Services that meets production support requirements. 
  • This role will oversee, direct and monitor the performance of dedicated project teams.  These teams may comprise of on-shore and off-shore application development and project teams who ensure the optimal delivery of project solutions in Logistics.  
  • These teams will include and involve all IT project managers, functional and technical leads, and solution architecture expertise (dedicated or assigned) in their respective roles for all end-to-end aspects of project planning and design, scope estimation and management, coordination of team assignment and mobilization, direction and coordination of work efforts, management of overall project deliverables, status reporting, and providing status updates, quality reviews and issue identification, escalation and resolution for the delivery of IT projects especially projects involving software development and hardware implementation.   
  • This role is also accountable for overseeing the Application delivery disciplines and process that ensures consistency of process, methodologies and tools that are deployed within Logistics Systems. 
  • The Head of Logistics Systems must be able to establish a strong relationship of credibility with corporate function executives, Brand CIO team and Brand executives in key meetings and forums where Logistics Systems are discussed. 
  • This role will also provide effective team management of dedicated development teams and vendor delivery resources and change leadership approach in driving continuous improvements and innovation in the Logistics Systems organization to drive higher predictable delivery assurance, consistency and predictable quality to realize measurable productivity results from identified improvement initiatives.  
  • The Head of Logistics Systems is expected to provide leadership insights as a contributing team member of the Application Delivery leadership team in defining and deploying policies and procedures that assist the guidance of the overall Application Delivery organization. This leadership role will require keeping up with trends and best practices in the industry.
Qualifications
  • MA/MS preferred, BS/BA in CS, Engineering, Information Systems and/or equivalent formal training or experience.
  • Generally 10-12 years of experience in IT.
  • Must have at least 7 plus years working in the area of Distribution Systems.
  • Must have prove experience deploying application suites and productivity solutions to a multi-location fleet of distribution centers.
  • Considered a SME on the hardware/software/infrastructure technologies utilized by Logistics business practices including warehouse management systems, warehouse sorters, RF printers and other peripherals, telephony systems, time/payroll management solutions, and personnel productivity tools.
  • Possesses corporate business fluency in Logistics and business presence - ability to engage with the business with credibility and positive relationship management outcomes.
  • Effective leader with the ability to lead large teams and organizations on a global basis.
  • Ability to manage senior business partner relationships, build trust and credibility.
  • Well developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and must be comfortable in interacting with senior executives.
  • Ability to navigate and influence and negotiate with all levels of the organization, business executives, vendors, and external service providers.
  • Effective people manager able to inspire and motivate staff to achieve the next level of excellence and experienced in coaching, mentoring and growing leaders and oversee people management for all personnel related matters in Logistics Systems.
  • Working financial knowledge in the effective management of project and delivery budget Corporate Systems.
  • Strategic thinker and consequential leader - able to develop, plan, execute a strategy and anticipate scenarios and potential issues and consequences.
  • Able to establish productive partnerships with peers in IT and experienced in working within matrix-managed organizations as appropriate.
  • Able to challenge the status quo and lead the assessment, design and implementation of change initiatives within Logistics Systems to achieve positive and measurable results.
  • Practical expertise and experience in Application Development, Systems Design, Application Support and related IT disciplines.
  • Strong IT project management skills in Application Development team management with demonstrated ability to manage scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Strong hand's-on experience and understanding of project implementations, project structure (both formal and informal), project life-cycle, and best practice project standards.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and development methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructural technologies relevant for the support of application development, e.g.databases, server, etc.
  • Fluency and knowledge of application and enterprise architecture principles, approaches and artifacts.
  • Knowledge of package-based applications - Oracle - SCM and associated system configuration functions.
  • Familiar with application technologies, Web applications, ERP systems, CRM systems, and other application systems.
