ROLE SUMMARY

Pfizer is currently the market leader in Biosimilars, and building an enduring business in this critical area of healthcare. With one of the largest pipelines globally, Pfizer Biosimilars is expected to become a multi-billion dollar business and a key growth driver for the organization.

The Global Commercial Biosimilars organization includes 6 key groups working across the product portfolio and lifecycle from early pipeline planning to pre-launch and commercialization, including market development.  2019 will be a critical year for the organization, as we pivot our focus to commercialization of our late stage pipeline in inflammation and oncology. 

The Director, INFLECTRA & Adalimumab Global Commercial Biosimilars Team has the unique opportunity to be an integral member of the global commercial team for INFLECTRA, Pfizer’s and the industry’s first Biosimilar monoclonal antibody medicine, and serve as the global commercial lead of the adalimumab global asset team, one of Pfizer’s priority biosimilar programs in development. The Director is responsible for partnering with the global cross-functional team members and regional/country colleagues to 1) uncover and lead priority initiatives to accelerate growth of INFLECTRA in Europe, North America, and other markets around the world, and 2) lead smart commercial planning for Pfizer’s adalimumab biosimilar. The Director will work across the biosimilars organization to uncover and understand behavior-driving customer insights, evaluate commercialization impact of biosimilar policies, identify untapped opportunities, and evolve and introduce commercialization strategies and initiatives matched to the rapidly changing marketplace to support achievement of financial targets.  The Director will have a leadership role in the planning and commercialization of 2 distinct medicines in distinct lifecycle stages, and help deepen Pfizer’s position as a biosimilars leader.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Strong customer focus is a key success factor in the new area of Biosimilars and this role will lead and contribute to understanding and meeting customer needs to achieve results.  The main responsibilities include:

INFLECTRA:

  • Serve as a key member of the INFLECTRA global marketing team providing thought-partnership and executional excellence to deliver on team goals and brand vision
  • Develop deep understanding and point of view of the brand, prioritized marketplaces, customer sets and channels, value drivers, competitive environments, brand performance & potential areas of opportunities and risk
  • Partner with regional and country teams to establish and accelerate growth plans for INFLECTRA.  The Director will lead specific initiatives with country teams as identified and prioritized.
  • Identify options for brand offerings for INFLECTRA to support selection over competitors
  • Partner with Pricing and Market Access to glean insights from in-market experience and decisions
  • With the team, conduct quarterly business review of brand performance and learnings with focus on key countries, resulting in clear insights and actions for the team
  • With global INFLECTRA commercial lead and cross-functional team, help develop annual business plans

Adalimumab:

  • In strong partnership with the Adalimumab development lead, serve as the commercial co-lead of the Global Asset Team for Pfizer’s adalimumab biosimilar program
  • Develop the go-forward adalimumab global commercial plan
  • Lead the evaluation and considerations arising from the future European introduction of adalimumab biosimilars
  • Understand and incorporate US market evolution drivers into adalimumab commercial plans
  • Partner with the asset team to develop the annual global asset plan

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of commercial experience in pharmaceutical industry, including commercial development, inline in-country marketing, and above country marketing at global or regional level with track record of collaborating with country teams to deliver results
  • Experience working in and leading highly-matrixed and multi-location teams; experience working with the range of cross-functional partners involved in drug development and brand commercialization
  • Experience working in highly competitive and fast-evolving market environments, start-ups
  • Track record leading development and delivery of differentiating customer offerings and holistic solutions
  • Experience and understanding of brands, generics, and/or biologics and biosimilars; Inflammation experience a plus
  • Payer marketing experience or commercial experience with payers/buyers or in business-to-business environment; experience developing, executing, and managing pricing strategy
  • Experience in strategic scenario planning and decision-making and track record working and succeeding in highly competitive marketplaces

  • Ability to set vision for brands and projects and influence and motivate others to rally around it and arrive at timely solutions and delivery of results
  • Innovative thinking, especially being readily able to consider creative approaches to establish strategies and drive execution to impact the marketplace faster
  • Strong project planning and management skills, including ability to develop effective project teams, plans, and briefs to guide self and others; proven track record of partnering cross-functionally and with broader commercial partners to develop and deliver plans and business results; ability to progress multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong prioritization and sound decision-making and judgement in planning and execution; ability to move teams forward, accelerate decision making, challenge status quo/take calculated risks while maintaining Pfizer standards and ensuring compliance with policies
  • Knowledge or ability to glean product value drivers and incentives across a range of healthcare systems and marketplaces; ability to work in different cultures across highly matrixed organizations
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of product value chains
  • Strength in establishing authentic global-country and cross-functional networks and partnerships to achieve a one-team mindset, shared goals, and impactful execution
  • Effective communication skills including oral and written communication to range of stakeholders/settings
  • Ability to navigate corporate systems to ensure adherence to required policies while still acting expeditiously
  • Ability to work independently and take personal accountability for project work when needed

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional flexibility to accommodate meetings outside 9-5PM work day given global team in multiple locations
  • Ability to travel 10-20% time, including international travel
