About the Job

What you will do:


Strategic role that aligns Logistics and Distribution capabilities for the Air Systems businesses to the current and future needs of the business and operations.  Manages the team and provides direction, oversight and leadership to the logistics leaders and associated teams supporting the various businesses within Air Systems which encompasses an extremely diverse set of multi-modal transportation and distribution requirements.  Works proactively with cross-functional teams in the PBU to meet business needs and improve customer satisfaction. Working proactively with the team ensures continuous improvement of productivity, service delivery, and cost targets within the Logistics & Distribution network, including the effective and efficient performance of internal and externally managed warehouses and transportation partners associated with the PBU operations. 


How you will do it:


  1. Serve as the single point of contact for the Air Systems leadership team for all performance, escalation of issues, and development L&D strategy to support the overall business strategy.

  2. Direct management of the Logistics and Distribution team supporting the various businesses within Air Systems (Ruskin and Fans, Air Handling Units, H&C, and ASC and Filters) including oversight for operational and cost performance.

  3. Serve as the escalation points for the leadership teams with the various Air Systems businesses including Ruskin and Fans, Air Handling Units, H&C, and ASC and Filters.

  4. Support logistics team in Air Systems in managing the relationship with logistics providers and Third Party Warehouse Providers to ensure performance targets are met.  

  5. Work collaboratively with the corporate procurement organization to support the bid process / contract negotiations and ensure the Air Systems strategy is represented through this process.

  6. Responsibility to optimize logistics strategy and processes across the team to ensure we meet and exceed the organizational customer service (Competitive Lead Time), inventory, and cost goals.

  7. Ownership for ensuring overall delivery of the Air Systems logistics performance and cost targets as well as oversight for the individual business performance within Air Systems.

  8. Involvement in the scheduled performance reviews with logistics service provider(s) & ultimate responsibility to ensure delivery of associated action plans out of those reviews.

  9. Ensure the roll-out and oversight for the standardized performance, cost and activity reporting in alignment with corporate L&D directives across all the businesses.

  10. Ownership for the overall Air Systems logistics budgeting process and to monitor actual spend against budget across all the business.  Ensure financial targets are achieved and any mitigation actions are met.

  11. Understand latest technology improvements and options as it relates to transportation and distribution and work to incorporate Air Systems requirements into the L&D strategic roadmap.

  12. Create specific Air Systems policy and procedures for logistics activities in alignment with corporate directives to be used by manufacturing plants, distribution facilities, suppliers and branches and ensure those are aligned with the various businesses within Air systems.

  13. Work collaboratively with the Transportation Center of Excellence (COE) leader to help define and prioritize support requirements for the Air Systems business as well as provide input for the strategic roadmap.

  14. Work to integrate Air Systems logistics and distribution processes with various company business systems and processes such as customer sales, order management, accounting, and shipping

  15. Lead the culture change activities to embed operational excellence including continuous improvement methodology, corporate mandated tools, processes standardization and procedures, as well as best practice sharing at the operational level within the Air Systems Logistics organization.

  16. Work closely with Global Trade Compliance organization on any requirements needed to support the PBU.

  17. Other duties as assigned

What you will need: 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field is required. Advanced degree is preferred.

  • A minimum of 10 years of related experience in Logistics and Distribution or broader supply chain activities required along with people management/supervisory experience.

  • Broad understanding of Supply Chain, Logistics and Distribution, Commercial and Manufacturing issues and strategies

  • Extensive experiencing leading complex warehousing or transportation networks.

  • Detailed knowledge related to supply chain systems especially transportation management platforms.

  • Ability to collaborate, lead change management and influences effectively across functions and in a matrix environment.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills in persuasion, negotiation, conflict resolution and teamwork.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and ability to work effectively in a matrix environment where priorities change rapidly and tight deadlines exist.
