Trust & Estate/Tax Specialist and Team Leader Job Description


 


Responsibilities:


You will work with Retail and Executive Services Financial Consultants and Portfolio Consultants to support high net worth (HNW) clients and prospects seeking trust, tax and estate planning solutions. You will primarily support the Financial Consultant who is the relationship manager responsible for bringing solutions to clients from Schwab’s spectrum of services and offers but you may also interact directly with both clients and prospects to assist on specific tax, trust, and estate planning issues. You will function as an in-house subject matter expert with the goals of helping the client when issues are highlighted by the consultant, assisting in consolidating client business to Schwab, and improving consultants’ knowledge around HNW client planning. 


 


In addition, you will manage other specialists and financial planners that offer support to our consultants in servicing HNW client and prospect needs.  In this capacity you will need to work with business partners to ensure team processes are implemented and followed in accordance with Schwab policies and procedures. This resource for consultants was created recently so there is significant opportunity to grow awareness of the team’s capabilities.


 


As a Trust & Estate/Tax Specialist and Team Leader, you will:


 


- Function as an in-house subject matter expert on trust, estate planning, and tax questions and issues through:


- Answering questions submitted by consultants


- Presenting at both external client events as well as internal programs


- Supporting training efforts to increase consultants’ knowledge on HNW client issues and planning


- Communicating how Schwab’s products and services integrate into a HNW client’s portfolio


- Manage a combined team of specialists and financial planners:


- Develop team operations and infrastructure in compliance with Schwab policies and procedures


- Market team expertise and resources to business partners in an effort to expand usage


- Edit team member responses and coach on relevant topics


- Identify potential client solutions through a broad understanding of products and offers within Schwab Retail, Schwab Advisor Services, and Schwab Corporate & Retirement Services


 


Qualifications:


You are required to have tax and/or trust expertise (e.g., – JD, CPA, LL.M); Series 7 & 63 license highly preferred; demonstrated expertise in providing direct high net worth client solutions; ability to work closely with Consultants and business development officers to develop resources and leads for potential clients/prospects; and experience with creating and presenting these solutions to clients. You must possess:


- Minimum of 10 years experience in dealing with high net worth clients, strong knowledge of trust, estate planning, and high net worth tax issues.


- Proven experience managing diverse teams with remote members that support sales organizations.


- Ability to manage multiple tasks and support several Financial Consultants and Portfolio Consultants across the country to provide clients solutions in a timely manner.


- Ability to work effectively with internal and external partners to address clients'/prospects' needs and goals.


- Superior presentation skills and demonstrated success in a team-selling environment.


- Excellent communication, listening, interpersonal, client service, and networking skills.


- Effective analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.


- Strong business/customer focus; ability to think in terms of customer experience/perspective. 


 


Requirements:
