The company is a young, privately-owned, high technology developer, manufacturer and marketer of leading edge, hand-held and online micro-spetrometers. Reporting
to the President, the Director/Vice President is responsible for:
1.
Working
closely with the President and the Director of Sales and Marketing to plan and drive the
strategic growth of the business.
2. Leading
the product development of the firm’s hand-held and online micro-spectrometers.
3. Managing
the development of methods and applications for the firm’s hand-held and online
micro-spectrometers.
4. Directing
the product management activities associated with supporting the sales effort
for all of the firm’s aforementioned products.
5.
Overseeing company’s internal operations.
Principal Accountabilities
1. In
concert with the President and Director of Sales and Marketing, develops and
executes the firm’s strategic business plan.
2. Manages
all direct and indirect company operations, product design, development and
technological activities.
3. Interfaces
and communicates effectively with a geographically diverse development team to
create new products, identify problems and implement solutions with the
technology.
4. Manages
the expansion of applications for existing products and the development of
applications for both new and existing products to meet customer needs and
requirements.
5. Develops
marketing materials to support sales, identifying and managing the product road
map and lifecycle.
Background/Experience
The ideal candidate will have seven to ten years of operations management, product
development and product management experience in a high tech manufacturing
environment. Optical instrumentation experience would be an advantage.
Specific experience with products measuring water chemistry and biological
composition would be a plus.
Spectroscopy methods development experience is important.
Candidates who have successfully led a high tech product from the development
stage through manufacturing and into the marketplace would have an edge.
An undergraduate degree in chemistry, biology, chemical engineering or a
related technical field is required. Advanced technical degrees would be a
plus.

The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, entrepreneurial and willing to work
within a lean organization.
The new Director/Vice President will possess excellent interpersonal skills and
highly developed written and verbal communications skills.
He or she must have a passion for product development and for working with
customers to make products user friendly.
