Director, Visual Merchandising








The Director, Visual Merchandising is responsible for the overall look of the stores including windows, sales floor signage and displays and for publishing the planograms indicating where and how to place merchandise on the sales floor for best visual advantage.

 

Specifically, this position is responsible for providing the leadership and direction that will result in the achievement of all sales and profitability goals through the development and execution of in-store visual presentations, coordinating with the merchandising, marketing and store teams to conceptualize and execute compelling visual merchandising presentations in the stores, developing the overall visual merchandising guidelines, standards and protocols for stores and understanding the relationship between effective visual merchandising and the resulting positive impact on sales. In addition, this position is responsible for coordinating presentation efforts with other functional areas for in-store events, promotions and new store openings for consistency from store to store and brand image, ensuring that floor plans are organized and communicated in a way that will allow them to be easily understood and executed at the store level, executing all floor sets for review and approval of the merchandise and marketing teams, developing all in-store signing needs (shop, brand, promotional, and seasonal), identifying new fixturing needs and make recommendations for change, interfacing and negotiating with outside vendors for fixturing and design and will possess analytical skills needed to review costs and payback on potential fixture change, being aware of competitive issues as they relate to merchandise presentation, and ensuring timely and thorough communication of merchandise presentation information to stores.


Qualified candidates will have a minimum of Bachelor's Degree in a relevant area of study such as visual marketing or merchandising with a preference for an advanced degree and 5-7 years experience in visual merchandising in a retail environment as a Sr. Leader with significant experience in a customer facing environment. Proficiency in Microsoft office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is also needed. This role requires a seasoned, hands-on visual merchandiser with an exceptional track record of delivering results and a proven record of creating exciting and visually stimulating merchandise presentation that maintains the brand’s integrity and results in the achievement of company sales and profitability goals.
