The Opportunity
The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for leading and directing all alumni relations activities by marketing and executing new programs, events, and outreach efforts to alumni.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement marketing plan to promote the college with alumni.
- Responsible for alumni education and networking events to build and strengthen the alumni network, implementing engagement opportunities which foster lifelong mutually enriching connections, and support College priorities and initiatives.
- Engages alumni in promoting the institution including managing volunteer opportunities for alumni which may include campus advisory councils and campus speaking opportunities.
- Serve as editor of the alumni publication.
- Strengthen alumni networks and manage strategies to increase student involvement with alumni and leadership programs.
- Build relationships with campus departments and student organizations to identify alumni partnerships.
- Partner with center for career development to develop career opportunities and career mentors with alumni for current students and recent graduates.
- Establish and build relationships with alumni: locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
- Maintain regular communication with alumni via direct contact, web-based technology -- e-blasts, social networking tools such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, the DWC alumni website and print publications.
- Collaborate with the Center for Career Development on DWC Career Day and other activities that develop and support alumni affinity.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred, from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in sales, marketing, alumni affairs or related area.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, influencing and collaboration skills. Experience in organizing and writing reports and presentations. Experience in presenting results to all levels of management. Able to work with a variety of disciplines and levels of the organization.
- Proven experience in solving complex problems.
- Able to provide examples of using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusion or approaches to problems.
- Experience prioritizing, planning and organizing tasks/activities to ensure timely completion of job responsibilities.
- Strong work ethic, timely and accurately organize, prioritize and complete all job responsibilities. Proven track record of project completions on time and within budget or other constraints.
- Work independently and with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of quality work product and output. Proven record of multi-tasking and ability to handle a high pressure environment with significant timeline pressures.
- Interact in a cooperative and professional manner with others; work in a team environment.
- Past history of developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
