The Director of Business Development is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and sales strategies to drive aggressive growth in the development of new business with defense and aerospace related manufacturing contracts. This role will use strategic partner marketing and affiliate relationships to acquire new customers and drive traffic and sales according to the company's aggressive sales plan.
Primary Responsibility: Develop, drive and manage projects and activities for new business development.
· Monitor and follows through on suggested improvements to the company’s proposal development process and program materials.
· Represent the company or affiliates at bidders’ conferences or meetings with the customer.
· Communicate with internal and external associates on the status of new business leads.
· Ensures the right individuals are actively involved in pursuing new business opportunities.
· Maintains availability and willingness to work such days and hours as the employer determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
· Maintains availability and willingness to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
Requires advanced computer skills, knowledge and application of multiple software packages to include word processing, spreadsheets, graphics/charts and PowerPoint presentations. Must be knowledgeable in MS Project.
Must have prior experience in business development and working with the Federal government. This includes an understanding of the processes and underlying principles of business development, project management, and project start-ups. Will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, and responding to large complex opportunities for both Manufacturing and Service related contracts in the defense and aerospace arena. Must be able to organize resources to rapidly assess and respond to large business development opportunities. Experience in Proposal Writing and Collaboration required. Must be able to develop and deliver proposals and convince customers to accept AGT solutions. The ability to understand and interpret basic mechanical and design applications is important. Abilities in adapting to and responding in multiple, complex and rapidly changing environments
Excellent verbal and outstanding written communication skills are a must.
Ability to effectively interact with all management levels. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. This includes a strong ability to present to large groups and various management teams. Ability to speak at the customer’s level, including at a technical level. Self-starter with outstanding analytical, communication (written and verbal) skills. Positively influences and motivates others to establish clear, concise and common objectives and is able to create a sense of urgency within the team. Frequently involves communication requiring interpretation and discretionary skills.
