Our
Client, a financially sound, well established manufacturer in the Rail /
Transit industry has an immediate need for a Director of Business Development in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.    The person
selected for this position will be responsible for leading and directing the
Business Development & Sales efforts on behalf of our Client in the
railroads market for mass transit & railroad customers throughout North
America to insure that the company is successfully positioned above the
competition in its ability to capture railroads related projects. This position
will report directly to the Vice President of Business Development and Sales.



 



Responsibilities:



Ø 
In conjunction with Company senior management,
develop and implement the marketing strategy for North America and assist in
the development of strategies throughout the rest of the world as appropriate.



Ø 
Perform comprehensive analysis of market
potential and maintain thorough knowledge and familiarity with strategic
projects and component business opportunities in the market.



Ø 
Identify new opportunities and develop detailed
sales plans.



Ø 
Communicate internally through all stages of the business development/sales
cycle with customer operations, engineering, account management and project
managers to insure common understanding of goals & objectives.



Ø 
Coordinate business development activities with
accou
nt managers, project
manages and proposal managers.



Ø 
Communicate and coordinate with product
development and strategic marketing intelligence to support new product
development and strategic activities.



Ø 
Develop project, market and bid strategies.  Lead the
preparation of project, target pricing, system cost evaluations, and bid
summary submittals when required.



Ø 
Maintain up to date knowledge of market
conditions, trends, and politics that affect the assigned sales region.



Ø 
Prepare, report, and take accountability for the market orders
forecast.



Ø 
Use contacts and experience to identify and
source local partners to enhance the Company’s opportunity to successfully win
strategic projects and component product orders.



Ø 
Promote and develop relationships with the
Company’s
customers,
consultants and installation/ general contractors.



Ø 
Interact with other companies of the Parent
Company for integration and promotion of group technologies in assigned
markets.



 



 



  Requirements:



Ø  Bachelor’s degree in engineering. 
Advanced degree in business administration is desirable.



Ø  Previous experience marketing to mass transit and/or railroad clients in
North America.



Ø  Ability to make connections with and influence decision-making
institutions at the highest levels to insure the Company’s success. 



Ø  Proven leadership skills to proactively drive business opportunities.



Ø  Excellent technical aptitude along with strong commercial
savvy in complex products and systems.



Ø  Effective written and oral communication skills including strong
presentation skills.
