We are currently seeking a Director of Child Development Programs to oversee, manage and lead our Child Development Programs serving children birth to 6 years old. 

 

 

The primary purpose of the position is to:

 

  • Plan, supervise, implement, and evaluate the overall program direction of the Child Development Programs.
  • Ensure licensing requirements are maintained in accordance with regulations.
  • Oversee direct service delivery to all referred home-based students.
  • Assist students in accessing appropriate resources.
  • Network with community agencies to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
  • Supervise and evaluate specialists and other program staff.

 

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1.                  Direct activities of home-based program for infants, ages 0-6 years.

2.                  Provide direct service for all families on in-take.

3.                  Participate in in-service training, planning and implementation.

4.                  Maintain procedures and policies in accordance with those of the agency.

5.                  Maintain written student and family records.

6.                  Direct and prioritize referrals from the community.

7.                  Participate in multi-disciplinary assessment of clients in order to provide appropriate programming.

8.                  Supervise direct home intervention, including visual stimulation, socialization, communication, gross and fine motor activities, positioning, self-help activities, family support, education and resource planning.

9.                  Develop and implement regularly scheduled in-service training sessions and family support opportunities with the parents, children, siblings, extended family, etc., in order to :

a)      provide interaction opportunities between families

b)      acquire new skills

c)      provide emotional support to all families

10.              Access and utilize the resources of Junior Blind of America (e.g., Nurse, Psychologist, Teachers) in order to provide the most comprehensive program possible.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  1. Education:

 

a.       Masters Degree in Special Education, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Occupational Therapy or related field from an accredited college or university.

 

  1. Experience:

 

a.                   At least three (3) years experience working with infants (birth to six years of age) who are disabled.

b.                  Ability to work with parents.

c.                   Knowledge and experience with assessment and programming for visually impaired and multi-disabled infants.

d.                  Knowledge of resources and parent support services available on a local and state level.
