Director of Conferences
 
Position Summary:
The Conferences Team is responsible for the coordination and development of large-scale and complex conferences with attendance of 400-500 each. The Director of Conferences is responsible for developing, implementing and managing Corporate Executive Board’s overall conference planning function, oversees sponsorship sales strategy, and ensures the success of the conferences.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and manage CEB’s overall conference planning and sponsorship function
  • Oversee the successful execution of overall sponsorship sales
  • Support practice GMs/EDs in the development of the conference agenda
  • Oversee all pre-conference, on-site and post-conference management
  • Manage the site selection process for conferences to ensure CEB-calibre experience for attendees.
  • Manage contract review process to ensure appropriate financial and legal protections are in place.
  • Develop and oversee event budgets, including the allocation of funds, projection of revenue and expenses, invoicing of sponsors and partners, etc.
  • Support Marketing department in the branding and communication of conference events.
  • Conduct year-end performance review of all conference suppliers and vendors
  • Manage the team responsible for sales and event planning
  • Achieve profit margin target
 


Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in hotel management, liberal arts, or similar field
  • Minimum 5-7 years of event planning experience, with demonstrated success in managing  complex events
  • Experience in conducting complex vendor and supplier negotiations
  • Track record of managing across multiple matrices, constituencies, and stakeholder populations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including superior editing and proofreading abilities
  • Project management proficiency, including experience in managing and prioritizing multiple activities at once
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time
