Position Summary

  • Manage a portfolio of continuous improvement projects in material and labor utilization as well as manage critical strategic capital and expense efforts at both Auburn and Fort Wayne, IN plants.
  • Exhibit the ability and skill to be Site Change Agent, working with multiple functional groups to deliver result.
  • Exhibit strong statistical skills (i.e. Master Black Belt) to drive continuous improvement in material and labor efficiency improvement projects using Six Sigma tools.
  • Develop metrics to define and measure progress toward successful implementation of projects in the portfolio.  Identify and take immediate corrective action to resolve any shortfalls to plan through regular meetings with plant managers and staffs.  Ensure that resource deployment is adequate to achieve agreed upon results.  Maintain a high personal commitment and site commitment to achieving results throughout both plant staffs.
  • Project management and implementations including business case development, analysis of needs, hardware designs, equipment specifications, control functional descriptions, scope of work documentation, procurement, field installation, startup and operator training.
  • Facilitates development and implementation of Site Strategic Plans for both plants and Future State VS Transformations in association with Site Leadership.  Develop and implement methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities.
  • Mentors and coaches plant personnel on application of continuous improvement process using Lean Enterprise and Six Sigma principles to accomplish key business objectives.
  • Hands-on implementation of Lean/Six Sigma Tools to achieve Future State.  Develop and implement Lean metrics and visual management systems.  Champion Plant Six Sigma program to achieve savings goals.

Job Requirements:

Requirements

 

·        Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

·        5+ years manufacturing experienced (preferred heavy industry or chemical processing)

·        Certified Six Sigma Black Belt with a proven track record in a manufacturing environment of providing significant cost saving, Master Black Belt experience required.

·        Exhibited strength in D.O.E., Taguchi, Lean/Six Sigma tools.

·        Demonstrated success leading the Continuous Improvement Process including mentoring and coaching Project Manager/Black belts.

·        Familiarity with fluid handing equipment, including pumps, heat exchangers, controls and power transmission equipment is desirable.

·        Hands-on experience in implementation of Lean/Six Sigma techniques in a manufacturing environment.

·        Strong planning, multi-tasking skills, analytical and problem solving skills.

·        Demonstrated understanding of Lean principles including Value Stream Mapping, Demand Flow, Total Productive Maintenance, 5S and Standard Work.

·        Multi-functional experience providing broad perspective.

·        Proven ability to think strategically to drive results at the plant and business level.

·        Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.

·        Enthusiastic “can do” attitude.

·        Self-starter, results-oriented.

·        Ability to work with all levels and functions of the organization.

·        Experience in managing cross functional teams.

·        Demonstrated proficiency in Mini-tab, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.

·        Understanding of Auto Cad and Visio.
