Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center seeks a Development Director to oversee and implement the development strategy for Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center.
Located in Falls Village, Connecticut, Isabella Freedman’s mission is to build spiritually vibrant, socially progressive Jewish community. We do this by providing experiences that inspire a love of Judaism, strengthen the bonds of community and cultivate leadership. All of our programs model an approach to Jewish tradition that gives participants tools for spiritual fulfillment, deep learning and social engagement.
The Development Director is part of the senior management team and is responsible for raising $1 million in private funding of a $3.5 million annual budget. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
· Create and implement annual development plan and strategy
· Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential individual donors
· Develop and grow our individual donor base; manage annual giving campaign; cultivate major gifts
· Research and write grant proposals and reports to institutional funders
· Lead annual special event(s)
· Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy
· Develop a planned giving program
· Develop and manage board fundraising efforts
· Supervise a development assistant and marketing consultant
Qualifications
· 5 plus years of professional development experience, emphasis on Jewish philanthropy a plus
· Demonstrated track record of achieving revenue targets
· Proven management and leadership capabilities
· Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage individual donors
· Strong partnership-building and event planning skills
· Thorough understanding of all components of a diversified funding base
· Good computer skills and knowledge of data base programs, Raiser’s Edge a plus
· Experience working with senior level executives
· Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent prior experience
· High energy, positive attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and high degree of initiative, sense of humor
· Strong verbal communication skills and ability to write clearly and persuasively with attention to detail
· Willing to work part-time on site
