We are currently seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Director of Development. Our company is based in downtown Seattle, WA, and we offer a dynamic work environment in the center of one of the country’s most vibrant technology communities.

Responsibilities:

The Director of Development will be expected to:

• Hire and build a first-class technical team and play a key role as both leader and contributor to that team
• Work closely with the CTO, other team members, and customers to define and finalize the requirements document
• Work closely with the CTO and other team members to create a detailed design spec and project schedule from the requirements, including:
  • Hardware requirements
  • Make vs. buy decisions
  • Initial release feature set vs. version 2 + features
• Keep the CTO (and other execs) informed as to progress against the schedule and spec
• Deliver on time and within budget

In addition to the technical requirements outlined below, the right candidate will have excellent verbal communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.

Requirements:

·         Designing databases and indices

·         Data mining

·         Data collection from multiple sources (including non-SQL databases)

·         Working within high availability, secure systems

·         SaaS architecture

·         C/C++

·         Top-notch Windows development skills

·         Ability to manage a fast-paced team of 4-8 developers using best practices (e.g. SCRUM) to produce high-quality deliverables in a timely manner

·         Due to the importance of this role, a minimum of 5 years of current industry experience is required

·         Search experience (search engine use in application, internals and APIs) is preferred but not required

·         WebUI experience (Ajax, DHTML, CSS) is preferred but not required

·         Commercial XML and XML interchange protocol experience (SOAP, BizTalk, XMI) is preferred but not required
