About the Job
Director of Development
First Descents provides free adventure therapy camps for young adults with cancer. These camps teach kayaking and rock climbing to promote the healing process. Learn more at www.firstdescents.org .
As our Director of Development, you will report to our Executive director and be charged with creating and executing a fund raising plan. This will include:
- Developing strategies to secure contributions from all levels of donors including foundations, corporations, and individuals
- Identification of new potential donors and strategies for developing relationships with those potential donors
- Leveraging board member relationships and contacts to maximize fund raising activities
- Managing database of donor contacts, history, and goals
- Creating of materials and programs to support fund raising activities
- Clear communication of goals and progress against those goals on a quarterly and annual basis
- Clearly articulating First Descent's vision and mission to a broad base of donors, potential donors, and other supporters
- Helping raise First Descent's public profile across cancer organizations, athletic events, public health organizations, educational foundations, and elsewhere
