Director of Finance-Europe

About the Job

Southern California-based technology company that is the world leader in its space within the consumer electronics industry is seeking a Director of Finance to work in our European headquarters.

The Director of Finance-Europe is responsible for the preparation of the European Ops monthly forecast and annual budget, performance monitoring of the business relative to forecasts and budgets, all financial analyses, any requested ad-hoc reporting/analysis, foreign exchange exposure quantification, and providing general guidance and financial leadership to the European management team.   Other activities that this position may be involved in periodically may include M&A work, treasury management, and strategy formation.

Currently we envision the right candidate spending a minimum of three years in Europe, and from there assuming a position in the Southern California headquarters.

More About the Role:

  • The Director of Finance-Europe will manage two direct reports, a Manager of Finance and a Financial Analyst, and will report to the US-based Vice President of Finance & Treasurer
  • There is a strong Controller in place in Europe, so we will not depend on your accounting knowledge and experience; however, you should be fluent in accounting theory and practice
  • International travel will be required periodically, to locations within Europe, to our Southern California headquarters, or to Asia.
  • Our company is a roll-up-your-sleeves type of organization – we run lean and expect that the right candidate will appreciate this about our company
  • Our company employs people from many countries and cultures – the flexibility to work within a multi-cultural environment is required

Requirements:

  • MUST have an MBA from a top business school
  • Must be willing to relocate to Europe for three years.  The company will be offering some relocation assistance.
  • Must be able to work in a role with limited guidance and oversight – this role offers a lot of autonomy due to its location, and will require someone that is self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlines.
  • Must possess a strong desire to work in a meritocratic environment – we value and reward high performers in accordance with their contributions
  • While experience is important, we are looking for someone with ability, a strong work ethic, and honesty and integrity above all else.
