A large Mid Atlantic hospital is seeking a Director of Laboratory for their 350+ bed acute care facility that is part of a university health care system.  The hospital is technologically advanced with millions of dollars of medical equipment, wireless network and offers state-of-the-art medical care and patient accommodations.

The Director of Laboratory Services is accountable for the accuracy and reliability of all services provided by the laboratory.  Directly responsible for the training, development, and supervision of laboratory personnel; plans and schedules the activities of the laboratory; assumes responsibility of the proper application of policies and procedures; and operates the laboratory on a cost-effective basis.  Provide management assistance to the various technical departments of the laboratory, other support services and functional areas, and leads by example in generating a culture of continuous operational improvement; responsible for delivery of services to meet physician and patient expectations.

Job Requirements include:

-      Must have a current MT (ASCP) or equivalent for certification as general laboratory supervisor under C.L.I.A., 1967

-      Bachelors degree required, Masters or MBA preferred

-      Minimum 5 years proven performance record managing hospital laboratory required

-      Ability to work in stressful situations, accept, implement, and evaluate changes; ability to work in a team environment

-      Strong multi-tasking, project and time management, problem solving, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
