Your primary goal will be to manage the Nursing Department to achieve and maintain the quality of healthcare that Kindred has become known for. You'll choose and develop your staff, be a born organizer and handle emergency situations with aplomb. You also realize that Nursing isn't just about medical care; it's about knowing your residents and fulfilling their needs.



Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate programs to promote the recruitment, retention and continuing education of the nursing staff

  • Initiate studies to evaluate effectiveness of nursing services with regard to objectives and costs; develop the department budget, monitor expenses and stay within budget

  • Plan and facilitate meetings and committees to address resident care issues; proactively handle survey and/or standards of care issues

  • Ensure that adequate nursing staff are available, based on facility and census requirements

  • Ensure that annual competency evaluations and performance reviews are completed in a timely manner; participate in facility "Performance Improvement Program

 



  • A candidate must be skilled in directing, motivating and training staff; able to organize and prioritize. Shall have the skill to communicate effectively with residents and their families and at all levels of the organization. Will react decisively and quickly in emergency situations and maintain confidentiality where required. The Director of Nursing should be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred) with a valid state RN license and CPR certification. Three years of experience as a Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing or equivalent supervisory nursing experience are required.
