Opportunity to work on Long Island for a global manufacturer of specialty materials. You will be responsible for minimizing costs and maximizing profitability of a manufacturing operation, while improving operating efficiencies and product quality. Experience as a Director of Operations in a batch processing environment, especially with products sold as powders, emulsions, compounds, or with products like cosmetics, chemicals, foods, inks and pigments, pharmaceuticals, specialty chemicals is preferred.

You will be responsible for improving P&L, meeting production and budget goals, implementing process and technology improvements, increasing capacity utilization, and supporting R&D and Sales for product improvement. Working in a lean manufacturing environment, you will plan, coordinate, and control all elements of the operation, including staffing, equipment, logistics, facilities, and work methods.

Manage production planning through an MRP process using SAP. Manage production and allocation of manpower, and equipment/tooling to satisfy customer orders and inventory levels.  Prepare and track annual budget. Coordinate with engineering and sales to improve existing products and develop new materials that can be supplied on a competitive basis, and which contribute to the overall profits of the organization. Optimize manufacturing processes, purchase prices and facility-related functions to improve productivity, reduce manufacturing costs, and maintain a clean, safe work environment for all employees.

BS in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar required. MS in Engineering or MBA is preferred. Should have at least ten years of experience in operations management including P&L, budgets, statistical process control, inventory control, production is required. The client prefers a technical engineering background, which includes experience in process engineering in a batch manufactured product environment. Experience with OSHA and environmental issues related to a process environment is required.
