Barksdale intends to hire a Director of Operation for the NA site. The overarching objective is to drive the operational strategy and deliver results through the CBS and Operation Excellence to meet global customers' expectations for product quality, delivery, performance and cost, and maintaining safety standards.


Basic Function


The Director of Operations includes direct responsibilities for the operations functions of VSMs, production planning, manufacturing engineering, facility, environmental and safety compliance, production, tactical supply chain, OpEx, and related duties. This position will have complete responsibility for the performance of the Barksdale North America operations.  This role is a key member of the executive management team.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

1.      Participate in the development of long-term business unit strategies, and short term business planning.  Translate overall company business strategy into operational goals and objectives for each site.  Establish key measurements and develop/implement plans to achieve targets.

 

2.      Using the Crane Business System tools and techniques of daily management, consistently and effectively ensure that business unit meets or exceeds targets for operational metrics to meet customer demands, at minimum costs.

 

3.      Continuously reduce expenses and aggressively manage asset base and capital spending.

 

4.      Utilize strategic sourcing processes to develop and implement commodity strategies to achieve quality, cost and delivery expectations for direct materials.

 

5.      Provide an environment, which fosters the development of a team atmosphere and self-improvement of subordinates.

 

6.      Continuously implement improvement processes, utilizing Crane Business System tools such as, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Problem Solving, 5-S as needed to reduce costs and increase throughput.

 

7.       Enhance intellectual capital through recruitment, rewarding and retaining the “best of the best.”

 

8.      Share “best practices” among business units under this position and utilize “best practices” from other companies within and outside Crane Co.

 

9.      Support staff efforts to provide a safe work environment for employees at all business units.

 

 

Qualifications and Required Skills


1.  
Minimum of seven years of experience in operation, preferably with prior experience as Value Stream, Cell Lead, or Supply Chain Manager.

 

2.      Experience with Hydraulic, Valves, Pressure, Sensors or other related industry groups.

 

3.      BS in Engineering, Business Administration or other related course of study.

 

4.      Technical knowledge of environmental and safety laws.

 

5.      Demonstrated ability to effectively develop and lead a team of individuals within a manufacturing environment.

 

6.      Demonstrated experience deploying lean manufacturing tools to achieve breakthrough results.

 

7.      Technical expertise in functional areas including materials management and ERP, in addition to hands-on knowledge of Systems Controls (TQM).  

 

8.      Ability to lead and deliver consistent results which meet business unit plans.
