Director of Pharmacy*




Under executive direction, provides overall strategic direction and leadership for Harvard Vanguard's 14 site-based pharmacies, generating approximately $70 million in revenue. Directs and leads pharmacy operations including the development and oversight of strategic initiatives, technology integration, cost-effective service delivery, and patient safety. Develops and implements quality measurement and improvement programs for pharmacy services. Directly or through subordinate management level staff is responsible for regulatory compliance, program implementation, and the purchase of capital equipment and supplies. Responsible for the effective financial management and budgeting for pharmacy operations. Reports to Chief of Operations.

Education: Graduate of accredited school of Pharmacy and must be currently licensed in Massachusetts as a registered pharmacist. Masters degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Hospital Administration or related field preferred.

Skills and Experience: Skills and experience typically acquired through 10+ years professional experience, at least 5 of which are in management of a large pharmacy operation. Knowledge of pharmacy operations and fee for service business required. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Must display well-developed interpersonal skills in order to work successfully with all levels of management, staff and patients. Strong orientation and commitment to external and internal customer service. Excellent ability to successfully look at system improvements in the clinical and business areas. Able to use computerized systems, including automated dispensing systems and reports.
