Our successes come from our people, and we currently have the need for a talented Director of Product Development for our North American Water Metering business.


 


Based in our Raleigh, North Carolina office, the Director of Product Development will direct all aspects of product development within the North American Water Metering business. This includes incubation of new ideas and concepts as well as execution of new product development projects. Interaction with marketing, operations and other business groups, as well as, participation on our North American Water Metering management committee are key elements of this role. Qualified candidates will:


 



  • Plan, design, develop and direct the implementation of programs, policies and procedures that are responsive to management and customer concerns; are consistent with the goals, mission and philosophy of the Company; and provide for cost-effective management of the product development function of the NAW business.
  • Develop long and mid-range plans to improve and standardize design engineering processes and procedures and communications with customers, and the Company, in order to ensure the continuing ability of the Company to develop and produce high quality products at competitive costs to meet customer requirements.
  • Develop plans and recommendations for the incorporation of new technologies and innovations into components, products and design processes in order to improve efficiency, effectiveness and product quality.
  • Plan and control product development budgets, ensuring the efficient allocation of available resources through appropriate communication with the finance team
  • Provide responsible leadership for, and ensure the professional and personal development of, all NAW product development associates.
  • Coordinate product development activities with domestic and foreign Company locations, and third parties such as technology licensees.
  • Ensure that all product development and customer technical communications policies, procedures and programs are designed and administered so as to positively contribute to the ability of the Company to be positioned as the clear technology leader in the industry.
  • Ensure the consistent and equitable administration of Company policies and procedures for NAW product development associates.
  • Provide design engineering and product development support for manufacturing, sales and purchasing.
  • Possess a thorough working knowledge of the theoretical principles and practical applications of electrical, electronic, mechanical and materials engineering; engineering design and testing principles and practices; CAD and CAE systems and applications.
  • Proven strong leadership and superior verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of budget planning and control principles and practices.
  • Experience working in multicultural environments.
  • Ability to travel 25+ percent depending upon demands.

 


This position requires a Bachelors degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical or other relevant engineering fields from an accredited institution (Masters preferred). Additionally, a minimum of ten years of relevant product development/technical experience with at least five years at the management level; experience managing cross-functional project teams; and a proven track record of managing/delivering technically intricate new product developments are essentials. A backgroud and expertise inclusive of DSP, embedded applications and electro-mechanical assembly is highly preferred.
