About the Job

Performs functions of Infection Control Practitioner and Performance Improvement Coordinator, oversees regulatory agency surveys and compiles responses to address areas of non-compliance identified in those surveys.

 

Works with all Hospital areas to maintain Hospital, SNF, and Home Health compliance with the JCAHO standarts, State Department of Health, and other regulatory groups.

 

Coordinates and facilitates Hospital-wide Performance Improvement (PI) activities.  Submits data to required agencies for our core measures and other quality benchmarks.

 

Performs the fuctions associated with Infection Control Practitioner hospital-wide.  Provides infection control orientation for all new employees and education about infection control for all Hospital staff.

 

Serves as the Patient Safety Officer and leads the Hospital's patient safety efforts.

 

Reports to the Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer.

 

Requirements:  Knowledge of aseptic technique and isolation practices, comprehensive patient care, quality monitoring and evaluation, and patient safety.  Knowledge of JCAHO Standards and ISDH regulations necessary.  Advanced knowledge of general nursing theory and practice.  Complete familiarity with organization and functions of all departments, policy, regulations, and procedures of the Hosptial.

 

Graduate from an approved school of Nursing with current registration in Indiana.  Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.  Infection control training and/or certification preferred and Performance Improvement training and/or certification preferred.

 

Five years nuring experience required.  Two years experience in one or more of the specialities listed in the job summary preferred.

 

Must be flexible and committed to meet the responsibilities inherent to the position.  Good communication skills a must.  Competency, tact, and patience in working with others.  Extended hours at times.  Ability to work on computer with various software programs.  Public speaking skills and team leading skills desired.
