Our retained client is a 5 billion dollar, best-in-class grocery retail chain. They have approximately 148 stores and operate in four states. They are expanding their organization and adding a supply chain department to the company. We are searching for a Director of Replenishment. The location would be in the Harrisburg, PA area.
Director of Replenishment
Position Description Summary
Basic Purpose:
Director of Replenishment is the business process leader for planning and replenishment of centrally ordered merchandise spanning all product categories and merchandise departments for the warehouses, 3rd party suppliers, and stores. This position will interact with the corporate office merchandising management team, perishable distribution center management and operations staff, the third party logistics company and vendors/suppliers and store operations, and direct service delivery suppliers. The position will support the overall strategy of the supply chain organization and work to increase effectiveness and efficiency in the area of replenishment. The primary objective of the position is to achieve maximum shelf availability at the best competitive net landed cost. |
Essential Functions:
1. Responsible to direct the overall creation and execution of planning and replenishment strategies.
2. Primary responsibility to ensure delivery of the correct product assortment to the appropriate locations within designated timeframes, utilizing consistent, documented processes to optimize the Company’s inventory position while meeting customer demand.
3. Design a distribution methodology that increases product availability and minimizes overall transportation and handling costs, while meeting customer requirements and expectations.
4. Utilize demand forecasting data in order to balance stock across retail stores and PDC, in order to achieve target inventory levels.
5. Design, implement and maintain processes that generate realistic business forecasts.
6. Identify opportunity gaps in replenishment processes and negotiate solutions with the PDC, merchandising management and external third parties as needed.
7. Design specifications and implementation process for new inventory management and replenishment systems.
8. Develop analytics and reporting to be used to monitor key replenishment metrics and deliverables which include but are not limited to: improving in-stock position, driving inventory turns, and improving forecasting accuracy.
9. Responsible for project planning and execution of large-scale replenishment initiatives that span numerous business areas.
10. Responsibility for annual budget/ROI analysis, process improvements, people development, team building.
11. Responsibility for ongoing continuous improvement to all relevant business processes and aligning technologies.
Position Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field is required; Master’s Degree or MBA is strongly preferred.
Experience: 10+ years of experience required in a retail replenishment/inventory management role; 5+ years management experience.
Specialized Knowledge Needed for Performance of Job: Advanced knowledge and understanding of inventory management principles and systems; Strong knowledge of replenishment and forecasting strategies related to market demand; Experience in a high growth, dynamic environment; Retail, CPG or vendor/supplier experience strongly preferred.
Special Skills: Ability to build strong relationships and effectively contribute on cross-functional teams; Ability to influence peers and key stakeholders; Strong presentation and communication skills; Skilled in utilizing business and financial acumen to create and evaluate strategic opportunities.
Other: Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to implement and achieve desired results against a wide variety of challenges; APICS CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) or CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) certification preferred.
