The Director of Search Marketing will be responsible for driving the strategic direction and overall execution for all PPC and SEO initiatives. This position requires strong online consumer marketing experience in paid search, as well as an extensive background in online business operations. The ideal candidate possesses a deep background in online business operations management, prior search engine marketing experience with a proven track record of success, strong leadership skills, excellent analytic capabilities, sound business judgment, and comfort operating in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
· Development and management of search marketing plans to meet departmental goals
· Negotiate contracts, monitor results and optimize accordingly in order to generate high-quality, cost effective ROI
· Manage and optimize all paid search listings across a range of paid search suppliers, making both supplier and implementation recommendations for continual improvement
· Quantify the efficiency and return on investment of paid search programs
· Continually leverage new tools and industry best practices ensuring an outstanding benchmark for both paid and natural search performance
· Lead the SEM team to meet and exceed aggressive business goals set forth by the senior management team.
· Manage and motivate team members to achieve top performance, providing insight, guidance, and training to facilitate success
· Maintain an expert understanding of the drivers of the SEM program key metrics. Provide insight into existing and potential SEM program performance challenges, utilizing all available data to make strategic and tactical recommendations.
· Evaluate broader economic and market conditions to ensure the timely adjustment of SEM strategy and tactics to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
· Work collaboratively with the sales/account management organization to manage and optimize all of the revenue generating inputs within the SEM experience. Maintain an expert understanding of all source revenue and conversion metrics relating to the SEM channel, as well as all internal and external tools used to report, manage, and optimize against these metrics.
· Work collaboratively with the product development team to continue to build out infrastructure (consumer applications and business applications) to support SEM initiatives.
· 7+ years professional experience, preferably in an online business management capacity
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills (internal and external); works well with direct reports, cross functional colleagues, and external partners
· Previous experience working with search management tools
· Strong analytical skills; must understand how to calculate ROI, CPA and CPL
· Will be responsible for all aspects of keyword management, including driving traffic and transactions involved with keyword generation
· Responsible for formulating titles and descriptions for keywords
· Must know how to execute optimal bidding strategies
· Extremely detail oriented and organized, with the ability to consistently multitask
· Excellent presentation and communication skills
· Bachelor’s degree required
