Tuthill Corporation’s Coupling Group located in Berea, OH currently has an opening for a Director of Strategic Planning. This position will lead all strategic business development activities and be a significant contributor to long-term growth objectives. The Director of Strategic Planning is responsible for defining targeted market and new product opportunities, and realizing success of those opportunities through partnership with sales team. This position reports to the Coupling Group President and will work closely with all members of the staff.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Research, analyze and monitor market, technological, and demographic factors in desired market segments to create a picture of the “lake” of market opportunities.
- Focus on “what’s possible” to challenge the organization to stretch into 20%+ year-over-year sales growth.
- Oversee and evaluate market research and adjust marketing strategy to gain knowledge in areas of gaps and meet changing market and competitive conditions.
- Monitor competitive products, pricing and marketing activities.
- Create and manage visual environment of market intelligence (“Map the Lake”).
- Use the visual market intelligence, along with executive team, to create strategic and tactical initiatives that will lead to multiple new products per year, delivering profitable, double-digit growth to the business year-over-year.
- Utilize Voice of the Customer (VOC) to listen & understand customer wants to drive high-margin new product designs.
- Create and sustain Opportunity Matrix for sales team to pull new opportunities and plan for future growth initiatives.
- Directly supervise and develop business development staff to achieve desired results.

Education & Experience Requirements
- 7+ years experience and demonstrated success in business development / strategic planning and subsequent sales growth.
- Bachelors degree required, MBA desired
- Prior managerial experience
- Marketing experience in a manufacturing environment required; experience in a lean manufacturing environment desired
- Ability to travel aproximately10% of time.
