Exciting opportunity for a Purchasing/Supply Chain Manager to join a well established and growing manufacturer and supplier of consumer goods.  This 100 year old company is seeking its next Director of Supply Chain.  We are looking for someone who wants to be part of a strategic management team and grow with a company that is number one in its business.


 


The Director of Supply Chain has overall procurement responsibility for all the company’s domestic and international activities.   The incumbent must possess a complete and thorough understanding of Strategic Sourcing practices and how they apply to the company’s procurement policies and procedures.   The candidate must effectively apply leadership, supply chain knowledge, and analysis and evaluation skills in providing services to the company and its customers.  The incumbent will manage assigned staff to procure key materials or perform project related activities.  The Director will work with all levels of management to ensure purchasing requirements are met and compliance to policies and procedures are adhered to.  The incumbent is proactive in working with current and future suppliers to develop effective business relations.  Also, the candidate must be up to date on innovations in procurement services.


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


 



  • Directs and controls all materials activities including: Production planning, Material Control, Inventory Control, Warehouse and Shipping/Receiving. Develops and implements policies and procedures, material schedules and coordinates the efficient movement of materials within Purchasing, Planning, and Production.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement internal flow strategies that are consistent with long term business objectives. Assure global procurement system is functioning at most efficient capability.  Provide leadership within the Supply Chain organization and within Operations in support of Lean practices.
  • Direct staff with the responsibility for day-to-day tactical and strategic management and execution for all elements of the supply chain.
  • Manage end to end, supplier selection, implementation strategy, and ongoing improvement across our value added supply base that drives the highest level of service to our customer base.
  • Negotiate agreements and manage ongoing contracts & relationships with strategic suppliers.
  • Implement advanced supply chain planning and management models.
  • Lead efforts to reduce lead-times across key supplier programs through process development and negotiations.
  • Drive process improvements in the area of demand/commit, cost reduction planning, supply chain flexibility and data management.
  • Define and manage appropriate key performance metrics related to supply chain execution.
  • Work jointly with New Product Development to insure timely product launches at lowest possible cost.
  • Proactively researches all major commodities for trends in supply, price volatility and any factors that can adversely affect the company’s costs, and provides strategic solutions to Management.
  • Participates and directs the Buyers in negotiating contracts for all the major commodities relative to continuous supply, price, volume rebates, freight responsibility and terms of payment.
  • Assists the Buyers in maintaining key Supplier Relationships to gain trust therefore enhancing a solid Partnership Alliance.
  • Interacts with the Customers assisting them in material selection, when needed.

 


 


Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


 


Ø      Minimum of 10 plus years of relevant experience including 5 years of experience at a senior managerial level.


Ø      Experience with Commodity purchasing and global sourcing strategies.


Ø      College degree in Business, Engineering, or related field is required, MBA preferred


Ø      Established work history in providing strategic leadership and reinventing current supply chain operations.


Ø      Proven operational experience and change management in a fast-growing business environment, including a strong track record in meeting expectations and delivering on commitments.


Ø      Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate within all levels of the organization.


Ø      Strong negotiation skills in dealing with partners and suppliers.


Ø      Ability to work with limited supervision in a dynamic environment.


Ø      Extensive ERP experience is a requirement
