The Director of Tax will be responsible for all aspects of the Company’s tax reporting and compliance. This opportunity will bring the Tax function in house. Qualified candidates must have well-developed interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a small, friendly, team oriented environment. The candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication skills and must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel. He/she must be an organized thinker with strong accounting, analytical and computer skills. The individual must be able to effectively manage multiple priorities and have the ability to work independently with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage the preparation of the tax provision and related disclosures for the consolidated year-end and quarterly financial statements in accordance with SFAS 109 and FIN 48;
- Lead the federal, state and local tax research effort as required in tax planning and analysis;
- Manage tax research and planning related to special projects and business transactions.
- Coordinate tax return preparation process (federal, state and local);
- Take responsibility for the calculation and timely processing of all estimated tax payments/extensions processes;
- Manage any federal, state and local tax audits;
- Assist with tax accounting projects as required;
- Coordinate property tax planning and compliance;
- Responsible for sales and use tax function; ensure proper treatment of transactional taxes;
- Develop and maintain tax calendars to ensure timeliness and adherence to deadlines;
- Written & oral communication with taxing authorities, consultants, senior management, legal and other departments at all levels within the company;
- Select and maintain computerized tax programs;
- Establish and document tax accounting processes;
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules;
- Manage the company’s equity compensation program;
- Assist with special projects as necessary.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- CPA preferred
- Master's of Taxation a plus
- 5+ years tax experience
- Broad tax experience preferred in both public accounting (Big 4 or Second Tier referred) and telecom industry
- Financial statement preparation / review experience a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent computer skills
