Job Description: Major global manufacturing operation seeking a Director of Technical Services & Support for NA division. Individual will establish imminent customer relations, to go beyond the basic customer specifications and promote the company’s superior quality capability. Responsibilities are as follows:

• Responsible for all new business development activities as well as strategic alliances.
• Primary objective will be to find opportunities for future growth, including: organic, acquisitive and geographic.
• Manage and direct Sr. Engineers in contacting new or existing customers for qualification of new raw materials.
• Direct the qualification of plant sites to supply products.
• Ensure direction for the initial manufacturing of qualification heats by securing supporting documentation and specifications, customer support during the evaluation of qualification trial heats and follow-up. Report progress and request plant support as required.
• Participate and support in the investigation and resolution of any customer claims or complaints that are of strategic importance or on the fringe of specification and fitness for use. Help assure a fair and equitable settlement with customer satisfaction.
• Establish active membership in various industry technical societies which represent company interests in new technological innovations, specification developments as well as establish key relationships within industry.
• Coordination and review for improvements of ISO9000 at various locations.

Job Requirements:

• BS in Metallurgical Engineering or closely related degree.
• Masters degree a major plus.
• 15 + years of experience required.
• Lean and/or Six Sigma experience preferred.
• Presentation and customer relation skills are important attributes.
• Must be familiar with domestic and international specifications as well as various OEM specifications.
• An understanding of metal products markets; automotive, bearing, construction equipment, defense, farm, truck will be required.
• An understanding of metal products technology; hot, warm, and cold forging, machinability, bearing applications, safety related components, etc…is necessary to provide customers with expert advice.
