Position Summary:
The Distribution Manager will have full accountability for the Shipping, Transport and Garage operations of the location.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage shipment status to meet on-time and accurate delivery requirements.
- Manage distribution and transportation costs to maintain budgets.
- Create a culture of safety and teamwork in the department.
- Participate in and lead LEAN manufacturing activities as needed.
- Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity and sustained certification of the SQF system.
- Responsible for entering all data for related tracking programs.
- Processing of payroll for all distribution employees using the Kronos System.
- Review route accounting and follow up with sales and production on discrepancies.
- Partner with Sales on order fulfillment and addressing complaints.
- Ensure maintenance of DSD vehicles and fleet comply with DOT requirements and are always in good safe operating condition.
- Manage the capital plan for repair and replacement of vehicles and equipment.
- Bachelors degree in business or related field preferred.
- Three years of distribution supervisory experience, preferably in the food industry.
- Five to ten years of experience in Logistics/Transportation.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and guidelines.
- Working knowledge of computers, including MS office applications.
- Management experience in a union environment preferred.
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Travel requirements - up to 20%
