We currently have an opening for a Distribution Warehouse Manager within Vi-Jon’s Distribution Department at our Mount Juliet location in Tennessee.  We offer an exciting and challenging work environment, a competitive salary and benefits package, and a business culture that rewards performance.

 

The Distribution Warehouse Manager is responsible for directing warehouse activities for the organization.  Direct and supervise subordinates to achieve a professional seamless warehouse. Supervise and coordinate activities of associates engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment. Inspect ALL warehouse facilities/ equipment and recommend changes in allocation of space and shipping procedures to supervisor. Ensure training compliance for associates. Follow ALL warehouse SOP’s and implement.  Monitor the timely arrival of freight carriers in order to ship the day’s shipments. Plan each day’s shipping activities. Coordinate with the inventory control department to ensure accurate inventory at all times. Follow up to make sure good housekeeping practices are being done in all warehouses.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

·         Establishes, in coordination with the Vice President of Distribution, operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling, and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.

·         Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, records control, purchasing, and contract packaging.

·         Studies Blue Tickets, bills of lading, orders, and other records and information to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.

·         Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.

·         Determines space requirements and position of shipment in containers and trucks and lays out position of shipment.

·         Determines legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.

·         Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications; ensures trailer loads are sealed and numbered on the bill of lading.

·         Responsible for overseeing the physical inspection of the warehouse and equipment.

·         Issues written and verbal instructions to subordinates.

·         Studies and standardizes procedures in coordination with the Vice President of Distribution to improve efficiency of subordinates

·         Assists in the planning and layout of the warehouse, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.

·         Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels.

·         Schedules work for special and periodic overtime, as well as overtime for catching up on late shipments.

·         Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and implements remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.

·         Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow.

·         Investigates errors and complaints by associates.

 

Requirements:

·         Thorough knowledge of overall warehouse administration, including ability to write/prepare work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures. 

·         Proficiency with warehouse computerized inventory system, including the mathematical skills and ability to trouble-shoot and analyze trends to improve efficiencies.

·         Ability to organize and adjust warehouse space to meet ever-changing requirements.

·         Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate people; excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. 

·         Knowledge of appropriate forklift regulations and safety rules is mandatory.  Advanced education is desired but may be offset by proven experience.

·         Five (5) to seven (7) years of overall warehouse administration including supervisory experience in a narrow aisle warehouse using case pick and pack.

·         Experience must be progressive in nature, overseeing a multi-shift operation, with budgetary responsibility.
