DISTRICT MANAGER - JANITORIAL MAINTENANCE
Our company is a dynamic, growing provider of janitorial services to many of the largest retailers and multi-national companies in the United States. Even with the weak economy, we grew our overall business by 20% in 2009, and we look forward to more growth in 2010. We are looking for a motivated, hard working District Manager to join our team in the New England market.
General Purpose of Position:
The District Manager is responsible for overseeing several hundred service locations and multiple Area Managers with assigned territories. Responsibilities include but not limited to managing operations, controlling expenses and payroll budgets, handling employee issues, maintaining vendor relationships and managing risk and safety.
District Managers are also ultimately responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service throughout the worksite locations in their territory. A District Manager is a role model and leader and must solve problems, make informed decisions and manage the workforce and time wisely in order to achieve maximum results.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Recruits and hires the most qualified supervisors and managers for the territory.
- Conducts orientation, train and coach the management staff in execution of daily tasks and to maximize district performance.
- Administers company policies and develops long range goals and objectives.
- Visits potential customers and assists in pricing of services.
- Reviews operational reports and records to ensure adherence to Company policies and procedures, monitor account profitability and manage payroll budgets.
- Analyzes marketing potential of new and existing store locations, assists in identifying sales opportunities.
- Coordinates new business roll outs and/ or closing of existing worksite locations.
- Maintains proper communication between the managers and the corporate office.
- Oversees compliance goals, such as hiring standards, timekeeping rules; I9s.
- Safeguards company property including equipment maintenance practices.
- Helps solve problems that affect the worksite service, efficiency, and productivity.
- Inspects worksite locations to ensure that services are delivered consistent with contract scope and company standards, as well as employee compliance with safety and environmental obligations.
- Any other tasks as assigned from time to time.

- Ability to develop and train work force, build relationships, utilize skills of workforce most appropriately.
- Ability to deliver all types of floor care, custodial and housekeeping solutions for our customers.

- Ability to maintain a fair, consistent set of standards as they apply to work force.
- Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain records and documentation pertaining to work force.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others, understand material and provide instructions to all employees.
- Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job, including good computer skills and use of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook etc..).
Requirements:
- Ability to work a full-time schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Big box/multi-store retail management experience required.
- Ability to handle million dollar volume.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skills.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications, benchmark state-of-the-art practices and contribute to team effort by accomplishing results as needed.
- Significant travel is required.
- College degree desirable.
