Job Responsibilities:
The District Manager is an essential member of the Store Operations organization. The Store Operations team is committed to supporting the stores and enabling them to succeed in Operational Excellence. Specifically, the District Manager position will lead and develop Store Managers (8-12) and their respective teams, within their assigned district. This position will provide the direction, coordination, and evaluation for stores operational activities to shape and lead their continuous improvement and efficiency.


The DM must be a resourceful leader with a successful track record in district management. They must provide strategic direction for the district and maximize workforce utilization while fostering teamwork. He/She will execute business goals, ensure compliance with PetSmart policies, and emphasize the need to deliver quality products and services. The District Manager will continually drive improvement in team performance while achieving results, building a team, and developing a bench for services while attaining all financial objectives.


Key accountabilities include:


? Manages the Store Leadership teams; coaches and builds a highly committed and performing team that will work to achieve results through excellent customer service while achieving operational excellence and growing services.


? Guarantees the safety and security of company assets, customers, pets, and associates through regular store visits, and training on store and government safety standards.


? Ensures standardization in driving process efficiencies and improvements in process execution.


? Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex financial reports.


? Encourages diversity, integrity, and adaptability throughout district.


Responsibilities



• Ensure all initiatives for the district are aligned with the company’s vision, governing business strategies, and current business priorities. Develop strategic direction and establish appropriate priorities for projects critical to success.



• Ensure effective communication of all key initiatives to encourage a consistent understanding of the reasons for, direction of, and expected results of each project.



• Act as focal point for progress reporting on key initiatives and provide timely updates.



• Responsible for achieving sales, expense, and earnings plan for the district and ensuring consistent policy and procedure compliance.



• Assists in the interviewing, hiring, and coaching of managers.



• Contribute to development of store leadership through coaching, training, mentoring and management of Individual Development Plans.



• Responsible for solutions management for potential safety violations/hazards.



• Ensures stores are in compliance with all inventory management tools (WISE) to guarantee appropriate levels of in-stock merchandise are available to customers.



• Assesses all work processes to provide the maximum in service and productivity.



• Presents and facilitates processes, programs, and concepts to groups of managers.



• Communicates business and financial objectives, audits store performance, collects data, and communicates results to corporate office. Provide constructive feedback to management on store results.



• Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.



• Represents the company to outside organizations within the local community.



• Works with and mentors others in the group to provide the company with qualified, well trained managers capable of being promoted.

• Computer literacy – Understanding and experience using Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications:
This candidate will come from a district management background with at least 7 years experience with a successful retailer. He/She will have specific, demonstrated success in the implementation of strategic plans and process improvement within a complex business. Bachelor's degree from a 4 year college or university is preferred.


It's preferred the DM live in the Memphis area.
