District Planner for center-core and shoes - Dallas District

 
Overview:
 
Drive sales, margin, and turn in individual stores through rigorous analysis of the business and identification of localization opportunities.  Direct assortment-related actions to the Regional Planning Manager/ DDP/ central Planner.  Will be the expert on the customer and competitive environment in a District.  Organized by family of business and responsible for approximately 10 stores.
 
Travel requirement:  Varies by District.  In stores 2 days per week. Visit each door at least 1 time per month.
 
Key Accountabilities:
 
Conduct in-depth weekly review of the business by door to drive sales.  Includes identifying specific opportunities (e.g., sales/stock relationships, under-performance) and recommending actions to be taken.

  • Drive sales through rigorous analysis of weekly reports across all doors in the District.  Identify sales and profit improvement opportunities and develop action plans to address them.

  • Identify both strengths and underperforming areas and recommend actions to capitalize on what's working and fix what's not.

  • Drive sales by recommending assortment changes: Vendor, category, seasonality/fabrication, class, color, and size strategies.

  • Review advertised items for upcoming sales and affect in stock position.

Visit stores and analyze opportunities to drive sales
  • Visit stores on a regular basis with District Merchant partner and District VP (when appropriate).  Visit stores with Regional Planning Manager.

  • Meet with Store Manager to discuss his/her priorities and provide feedback on outstanding action items.

  • Evaluate and analyze opportunities called out by District Merchants, Store Managers and GSMs/MTMs to drive sales; implement action to address issues and effect change.

  • Develop new actions for follow-up before leaving store (requires mobile connectivity).

  • Work with DM to monitor floor capacity for turn / velocity opportunities and productivity.

  • Reconcile units on hand with inventory on floor and in stock room, on an exception basis, in conjunction with the District Merchant.

Provide input to central  planning organization to inform pre-season merchandising assortment strategy
  • Assist with preseason merchandising assortment strategy development and vendor planning With input from Regional Planning  Manager/Central Planning partners.

  • Identify missed opportunities from previous season (especially brands, products, styles not carried or underfunded).

  • Use analysis, input from District Merchants, Store Managers and GSMs, and customer insight to recommend actions based on preferences and trends to drive sales.

  • Review plans with DVP, Store Manager and DM before CP's go to market to place goods.

Recommend vendor matrix at door level
  • Analyze vendor matrix by store, taking into account input from District Merchants, and recommend vendor adds / edits / distortions.

  • Coordinate with District Planners for other GMM areas to ensure strategic alignment and congruency.

  • Meet with local vendors and vendor coordinators to determine district- appropriate assortment adjustments and opportunities.

Build bottom-up store-level sales plan (not in cosmetics)
  • Participate in seasonal strategy meetings.

  • Review historical performance and store attributes.

  • Translate guardrails and central strategy into store-level sales plan in PACE.  Deliver on schedule and review with Regional Planning Manager.

  • Review final sales plans and planned monthly flow, avg stock, and turn components where planned.

Recommend assortment/allocation changes

  • Preview initial assortment plan within Affinity (Planner level access) and provide call outs to better drive sales.

  • Recommend adjustments based on history, climate and local strategy.

  • Provide real-time input to MPD/GPM/Planner as requested (e.g., quantities for re-orders, item-file updates).

  • Provide callouts on sizing.

  • Provide specific in-season recommendations to INFOREM.

Analyze space productivity and recommend changes in space allocation to drive sales
  • Partner with DVP/DM to recommend in-season adjustments based on trends, vendor shifts, promotional issues, etc.

  • Partner with DVP/DM to review capacity issues.  Determine vendor adds and edits based on merchant team guidelines.

Acquire in-depth knowledge of competitive environment in District
  • Shop the competition and inform the appropriate parties of changes, remodels, etc., that will impact the business both adversely and positively.

  • Develop deep understanding of store profiles including current status, business opportunities, and competitive environment.

  • Define store-level attributes by merchandising assortment.

 
Provide input on local marketing for doors in District
  • Evaluate and recommend sales opportunities for special events (e.g., bra fitting events, bridal trunk shows, home spring cleaning).

  • Prepare for and evaluate the results of merchandising assortment-specific special events, pre-sell, performance to goal, etc.  Identify missed opportunities for next season.

Skills Summary:
