POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of the DSM is to build and maintain an efficient, high performing team of Territory Sales Representatives to represent STS and client objectives in the C-Store Channel. You will direct activities of retail-focused sales personnel to effectively execute sales cycle goals relative to distribution, promotional activity, & quality merchandising and implement the company's staffing, training, & performance management models to hire, train and develop employees. You will also develop and maintain strong relationship with STS' client base
MANAGEMENT
- Manage over all cycle planning, territory routing, coordination and execution of special projects, budget analysis, coordination of quarterly sales meetings, scheduling work-with’s and audits, staffing and training for your market.
- Manage all special projects, including staffing, hiring, training and scheduling to meet individual project requirements
- Perform market store checks covering all assigned projects
- Analyze, update, and modify routing as required to meet cost efficiencies and project objectives
- Develop and maintain client accounts and relationships
PERSONNEL/TRAINING
Interview, hire and train part-time territory sales reps to meet staffing needs for all projects and coverage
Work with all territory sales reps at least twice per quarter to meet client objectives
Ensure territory sales reps receive and are using STS/Client materials provided to achieve objectives in an organized manner
Maintain appropriate personnel functions such as performance appraisals, wage adjustments, job promotions, disciplinary actions and separations
Analyze, update, and modify routing as required to meet cost efficiencies and project objectives
Train all new territory sales reps and special project reps on STS Policies & Procedures, retail call reporting and client objectives
- Provide continuing training for all territory sales reps through regular work-withs and district meetings
- This position will have 5-25 direct reports
- Monitor DSM budget and corporate objectives and approve any Territory Sales Rep expenses
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Manage time and expense reports
- Management of sales reps calls, hours and associated expense reports, call reports and tracking materials
- Inventory Management (management of distribution warehouse-- budget management, also logistics involved include managing orders, inventory management, arranging pick-ups, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work related experience in consumer goods/food industry
- Minimum 5 years sales management experience (consumer goods industry exp. preferred)
- Minimum 7-10 years sales experience (consumer goods industry exp. preferred)
- Must have Internet access and be able to work in STS’ intranet/database systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge of Internet Explorer and Email functions
